Ordering on the internet can sometimes be a little hit and miss and whatever the economy, the last thing you want to do is gamble your money away. Here are some tips to ordering online.

1. Is it a bricks and mortar company, ordering from somewhere without premises can often mean you’re dealing with a company running out of a bedroom. Bricks and mortar gives you some security.

2. Does the company offer a telephone number? Again this offers more security and avoids endless “email tennis” should you need help.

3. Is the company a registered company on Companies House?

4. Try calling the company and seeing how helpful the staff are, or if they even answer the phone at all.

While you can never be sure, the above give you at least some reassurance that the company your are buying from is a real entity. At First Bathrooms we are all of the above and more and we can guarantee you that, give us a call and see for yourself!!

Like many aspects of homes in the UK the bathroom has become subject to fashion and is fast becoming the focal point in anyones house. Home owners want to stamp their own mark on their property but at the same time they realise that a home is an important investment and if the interior design choices are too drastic they will date the interior and potentially make the property difficult to sell.

Due to the above home owners have plenty of options to do whatever they like in terms of bathroom design, but the desire to maintain the sale value of their home imposes discipline. In any event most bathrooms in the UK are controlled by the limitation of size most of which have the same floor area as a king-sized bed!

If you live in an older house which still consists of a separate bathroom and toilet you could think about moving the dividing wall to convert into one large bathroom. Alternatively is it better to stick with the two separate rooms allowing the bath and the toilet to be used separately. The best way to decide is to asses your families current and future needs.

Current bathroom trends are moving away from neo-Victorian and towards more simplistic designs with a minimalistic look and feel…. less is more. It should however be noted that the more extreme minimalism has now passed as a trend and at present the current mood is for softer more “human” design but without the clutter of victoiana. The buzz words in todays bathroom trends are simplicity and clean incorporating gentle curves.

The most common colour in todays bathroom is white with colours being a thing of the past. Carpets which were once a trend are now out being replaced with floor tiles and laminate flooring. With regards taps brass and gold where very much the in thing to have in your bathroom however this finish of tap has now vanished with chrome being everyones choice. Fashion has also caught up with heated radiators within the bathroom which now come in various design shapes and some also contain storage as well as have a mirror.

There is everything to be said for Kaldewei Steel Enamel 3.5mm. Below are 15 reason put together by the team at www.firstbathrooms.co.uk to purchase a Kaldewei steel bath or shower tray.

Material – Kaldewei manufacturers its own enamel. This is the only way to guarantee optimum addition to the demands placed on baths and shower trays.

Scratch And Abrasion Resistant – Kaldewei baths and shower trays cannot be scratched by the substances usually found in the bathroom. If metal scratches on enamel, it is infact the metal which rubs off with the enamel being unaffected.

Water And Material Temperature - Steel is a fantastic conductor of heat and quickly assumes the temperature of its surroundings or of the water. The heat absorbed by the steel flows back into the water when the water cools down. Consumer tests have shown that even the sloping back rest above the surface of the water heats up. The cooling behaviour of the water is the same for steel, cast and acrylic baths since the heat of the water escapes almost exclusively from the surface of the water.

Easy To Care For And Hygenic – With Kaldewei steel enamel 3.5mm with easy clean finish, the water simply runs off the smooth, glass hard surface taking nearly all the particles of dirt and limescale with it.

Hard And Impact Resistant – The Material strength of 3.5mm steel enamel guarantees an unsurpased stability. The Kaldewei steel is considerably harder than acrylic.

Glass-Like – Kaldewei steel enamel possesses the same properites as real glass shower screens, tiles and ceramic, so that all the materials in the bathroom have a uniform appearence.

Colourfast, lightfast – Enamel is extremely resistant to ageing: the shrine of the “three kings” in Cologne cathedral (from the light fast year 600), which is adorned with decorative enamel provides impressive proof of this. The colour effect (shine and structure) and colour metamery of Kaldewei steel enamel matches that of ceramic glazes.

Acid And Chemical Resistant – Kaldewei steen enamel is acide resistant and is also resistant to all cosmetic and medicinal bathing preparations and perfumes which can be tolerated by the human skin.

Heat Resistant – Burning and smouldering objects leave no burn marks or traces of smoke on Kaldewei steel enamel.

Static Charge – Baths and shower trays manufactured by Kaldewei do not charge up with static electricity and do not attract dust when cleaned dry.

Chemically Bonded – Steel and enamel form a molecular bond and cannot be mechanically seperated.

Material – Kaldewei baths and shower trays rarely expand when subject to temperature fluctuations, hence expansion causes no cracks in the joints or structural damage due to moisture.

Exchange, Repair – Silicone sealer bonds to Kaldewei steel enamel without pre-treatment . Damage to the surface of the enamel can be repaired with special repair kits from the Kaldewei accessory programme.

Guarantee – All Kaldewei baths come complete with a 30 year manufacturers guarantee for peace of mind.

Lasting Value – If cared for correctly a bath or shower tray in Kaldewei steel enamel looks almost as it did on the first day, even decades later.

Kohler Mira, the shower company owned by the US giant Kohler Company, has reported an out-of-court settlement in a design violation action versus Triton and its Inscription collection.

The situation, associated with feasible resemblances with Mira’s Azora ( described) as well as Galena lines, was settled in Mira’s favour and today requires Triton to withdraw all variants of the products, both proprietary or own-branded for retailers, by the end of March 2011. Triton is also required to pay Mira’s legal costs.

Dave Hill, Mira managing director, said: “Each year, Mira Showers invests significantly in intellectual property and new product development. As industry leader in innovation, we can’t and will not allow our investments to be misappropriated through infringement.

“Customers choose our product specifically because of our technical expertise, product innovation and specification support, which over many years has made us a dependable brand. Consuquently, it shouldn’t be underestimated as to how aggressively we will aim to enforce our intellectual property rights in the markets by which we operate.”

JT, far more frequently recognized by its former name Just Trays, has not too long ago agreed upon a significant package together with Konig, a crucial wholesaler in the upper Rhine region in Germany.

JT, based in Leeds, describes the deal as an important “regional strategic partnership” together with Konig, who possesses 16 branches as well as eight showrooms. The particular goal is without a doubt to deliver JT’s collection of shower trays to the €2. two billion German market.

Paul Crossley, managing director of JT, explained: “This deal will be the end result of 12 months of market research and also negotiations in order to set up the ideal partners to supply our top quality goods directly into brand new export market segments. The marketplace in Germany offers a strong goal on good quality and design, having over 900, thousand shower trays distributed just about every twelve months and I ‘m totally sure each of our unique current models are going to accommodate this unique product market place.

“Over recent times, such deals have vanished to firms located in the Asia thus , making this a good demonstration of how the British isles manufacturing sector along with technology and financial commitment can certainly be competitive. We have been really looking forward to this valuable venture in addition to looking toward widening inside Germany, with a view to increase our activity in other Eu and worldwide market segments.”

JT, started started in 1988 and employing seventy two people, manufactures more than 5, 000 shower trays weekly and also the package will certainly see the new JT Naturals Collection lead the export drive.

Gunner Meister, the European representative who facilitated the deal, reported: “Since the first day, we’ve been very amazed with JT’s capacity and also vision inside the current market. With effective order-to-delivery times, as well as their particular leading edge product design, we feel that we are actually committing in a brand name that can remain competitive with the world’s best in the German market place.

“JT’s focus on superior production, in particular the new JT Naturals Collection, was a major marketing point therefore we are very much anticipating growing our alliance on the following twelve months and beyond.”

With this technology Kaldewei became the market leader in Germany.

Kaldewei bathtubs and shower trays are meticulously crafted with steel enamel 3.5mm in thickness. They are masterpieces of bathroom design ; extravagant, exquisite and elegant. Designed as prestige items they can transform every bathroom into a shrine of aesthetic sensuousness.

Kaldewei have followed the path of ecological sustainability for over 90 years. Systematic implementation of this material philosophy means that all bath tubs and shower trays made of Kaldewei steel enamel 3.5mm can be completely recycled at the end of their lifetime. Thanks to the eco-friendly processes used in manufacture, packaging, transportation and disposal Kaldewei is the first German bathroom manufacturer to be certified as sustainable in accordance with ISO 14025 by the Germany Institute of Building and the Environment.

Continuous and consistent

From Victorian times into the twenty first century, Twyford Bathrooms has been a world leader in sanitaryware. Led by people who were not afraid to innovate, to take bold steps into the unknown, to keep going to achieve what they believed in, Twyford has scored an amazing record of firsts in the industry.

Foundations

Thomas Twyford, the founder, made this Company the first volume manufacturer of sanitaryware in the world, and built up export sales in countries like Russia, America and Australia.

Thomas William Twyford, son of the founder, created completely new products, and completely new factories to make them. He invented the first one-piece, all ceramic, freestanding wash-out WC.

He built a new factory at Cliffe Vale, Stoke-on-Trent, in 1887 which set new standards of safety and efficiency. He expanded his factories into Germany and later in the twentieth century into India, Australia and South Africa.

Thomas William Twyford had far-sighted views about what the market wanted, and had the determination to spend years, if necessary, to develop the right product. It took years to be able to make large products, like baths, in fireclay, but the Adamant business which resulted was a cornerstone of Twyford’s reputation.

Creativity

Twyford became famous for creative product ideas, beautiful design, reliable quality. Thomas William, who became Managing Director at 23, issued shares to his managers, and made Twyford a limited company in 1919. He established a tradition of innovation which has continued to this day.

Through the twentieth century, Twyford emerged successfully from two world wars, and many other challenges. In 1956 the company had the courage to build an all-new factory at Alsager, Stoke on Trent – Europe’s largest sanitaryware plant. Since then the factory has expanded further and now supports a huge distribution centre, the size of 5 football fields.

Product innovation continues

“Avalon” and “DOC.M” – was the world’s first specially designed sanitaryware for people with disabilities.

Equally innovative is the Defenda range of solid surface products designed for environments subject to vandalism. And Twyford leads the UK market with products designed to reduce waste water and comply with new water regulations.

The Twyford VIP

The VIP innovative WC concept design combines ergonomics and technology with well being. The ceramic bowl moves, in an arc, up and down to provide a range of positions to accommodate many ages, cultures and preferences. Twyford also sell cheap bath screens. Movement of the bowl is by voice recognition or via a pre-programmed wall control. Flushing, which is actuated by infrared sensor, operates on a vacuum system. This reduces the volume of water required to an environment friendly 2 litres. In-built technology analyses urine and faeces providing dietary advice for optimal health, which is linked to internet shopping facilities, bringing nutritional requirements straight to your door.
