Keeping Your Bath In Pristine Condition

Many times I will visit a house to plan a bathroom or en-suite and the first thing that I see is that the bath is in such a poor condition. This is a very common problem and it is also one that can easily be avoided through a simple plan of cleaning. The other common problem is that people approach the cleaning of their bath in too vigorous a fashion, scouring and damaging the surface and also the finish of the bath.

All of this can be avoided by following a basic set of rules which I will summarise into a simple list of do’s and don’ts which you can print off and keep for reference.

Do:

Use a polypropylene pan scourer and bleach free cleaner this will help to rub away waterline deposits and stubborn stains.  If you want to give your bath that little extra something I would also recommend that you polish your bath every so often, this will give you that pristine showroom finish that will get your friends and family talking.

Make sure the bath is dry before you begin by mopping it with a clean cloth, you can then apply a colour cut product liberally and apply with a soft cloth. You can also use a chrome polish on any areas such as basin taps and bath fillers be sure not to apply any of this onto gold plated fittings and taps.

Finally, finish off with a clean lint free cloth and polish and buff everything to a high shine then step back and appreciate what you have done.

Do not:

Use any abrasives when cleaning your bath, this wii just add scratched and swirl marks to your bath and these are impossible to get out (without expensive and professional polishing buffers).

Apply any acetone or paint stripper as this will only damage and remove any protective surfacing from your bath.

So there you have it, a simple recipe for keeping your bath tub in immaculate condition.
